Default Woah!

Hi Sportfisherman,

That's one huge YFT! How long was the fight and was the Stella 6000SW pushed to its limit?

Cheers!

The topic is being discussed hotly in Indonesian sportfishing communities because it only took 5 minutes and 36 seconds to gaft this brute , my opinion is that the tuna swallowed the lure and could not open it's mouth to breathe and hence , had no strength to do anything but being led to
the side of the boat . The line used was PE5 .

A couple of days before this , the same angler took more than a half an hour to subdue a far smaller fish using the same outfit , check the other posting in the same section .

Yesterday , a 56 kg YFT was boated , this time it took 3 anglers to bring it to the boat side and the outfit used was heavier than the one used for this 70 kg speciment , PE 6 line was used .

Default YFT

Hi Jon

Wow 5 min 36 sec, were u guys timing? Anyway, I can't imagine how hard and long the fish would have fought if it did not swallow the lure. I like the "from the bow to the fighting chair" pictures on the other post, wonderful stuff. Thanks!

Cheers!

John,
the leader was tangled to the tail of the 70kgs YFT. not sure whether this was the reason why it only took 5mins to finish the job, as, from my past experience, a 25kgs good hooked up tail tangled took us almost an hour.
Aan fishing with capt. pendi today, caught a 65kgs n 7 mins to gaft the fish. While i caught a 50kgs and took 4 people and an hour of fight.
i guess different fish just fight differently, or are some of us are just too old for this big ones? (me including )

Congrats Mr. B. Salim...some acheivement I must say..well done.

5 mins. is un- heard of...at least for myself...Now I know that it has happened

Be it drowned by swollowing the whole popper or being tail-wrapped...It still take some doing pumping back a YFT of 70 kg..not to mention a PE 5 spinning outfit...my utmost respect...

Guess in Popping..anything can happen...

Once again..well done..

BR,
Rob

Congratulation to A An , 7+ minutes is still a very good time for 65 kg and look what brand of rod these guys are using , CARPENTER !

The lures used were Java Popper from Heru !
