Yesterday a member of this forum took me around to check some fishing shops in jakarta...well,..to be honest, i have never visited one before and i was abit disapointed at first...Man, its Overkill, everything is big, for a light tackle angler like me, i wouldnt be interested in what they offer....but...ah ...always the but

look what i found...and these items could be turned into flies

i always love soft plastic lures...they are so ...ah..so flexiable..heres how i tie soft plastic

note the angle of the tail...they must be at a upwards direct for the tail to come into play

this is a tandem popper...well , a chuckker actually as it doesnt product the popping sound as normal poppers would...instead it chucks, chucks ,chuck...due to alteration of the popper head

note the hole made at the center of the head...this will eliminate the poping sound and produce chuckings..just like a wounded fish

and again look at the shape of the head and the holes

the best items i bought yesterday ...was this....a pair of classic reels...and at 200ribu each...man this is truly a gift.
such reels are no longer in fashion,..but let me tell you this ...these are the type of reels we used to fish with back in the 70s..."Reel Katak" since the drag produce the crocking sound just like a frog, soon if not now they will be out of production.
the good thing about Reel katak is they are made to last...20, 30 years at least...with very few working parts meaning less Rusak2.
i was asked why i bought them by the shop owner since nobody wants them..so i told her the story behind such reels...and to my surprise she up the price to 500ribu...hahaha...tough luck braders, i got mine at 200ribu..first come first serve...but to be honesty, really honest, even at at 500ribu, they are worth every ruppiah you pay....Collector's item brader...same as my Abu C3, C4, C5 and C7... talking about it..i have a pair of Abu Island spoon that i bought for Rm2.50 in 1979...they are worth at rm300 now...if the owner decides to sell.

if you have not seen the inside of a Katak reel...here is how they look. this is the Abu reel...just look at the size of the shaft...titanic size braders

ah ,this is a classic from Wright and McGill.Co Colorado. an old american favorite back in the 60s and 70s....hahaha...see what you guys are missing out.
look at the no nonsense right to the buisness end shaft...simple but effective...who needs ball bearings anyhow ????
