Hi Dogol22,

Thks !

I like the sea not necessarily only fishing. Also like snorkelling, photography, sightseeing.

Anyone with similar interest ?

All my rods are in Penang. Which shop is good to check out fishing rods and snorkelling gears ?

Noticed that the tour packages to pulau seribu for weekend trip is quite exhorbitant, any cheaper alternative ?

and btw, anyone free for coffee to chit chat abt the outdoors ?

Indonesia is blessed with such nice natural landscapes islands etc

Hi Beemaro,
Maybe you can contact Mr. Jon aka Sportfisherman, I think He has the same interest as you do. FYI he is one of the 'suhu' in this forum with huge experience and fishing knowledge.
For snorkleing gear I think Lautan Mas Tackle and Dive Shop is the right place for you.
LAUTAN MAS
Jl. Toko Tiga No. 24
Jakarta Barat 11230, Indonesia
Ph: +62 (0)21 690-1333
Fax: +62 (0)21 690-2479
SMS Center: +62 (0)815 8008 112
e-mail: info@lautanmas.com
Website : http://www.lautanmas.com

There you can see fishing tackle at the ground floor and dive equipment at the 2nd floor.
Where do you stay in Jakarta? Maybe on this Saturday I can see you.

Hi,

I hope u have a good stay in Johor Bahru also. And plse becareful as JB is a notorious city ! ANd speaking abt Johor, can go to Pulau Aur / Tioman area , cheers

Under Penang bridge also got some nice ikan. My dad used to go around bridge and near Pulau jerajak area for fishing

He asked me to go to Carita and krakatao area. The old man is more informed than me and has travelled from Medan down up to Lombok thru Java.

Hi Lee,
Surabaya is OK. Don't know about Penang but fishing here at Probolinggo is better that my trip to Pulau Sembilan or Jarak.

rods in Penang
On your next trip home, prepare a 4" diameter PVC tube and you can stuff 2-3 rods and check in to the airline. Put your reels to your check in luggage. Every trip home, I carry my rods this way. No problem with airline or custom.
Don't know rods & reel pricing in JKT but in Surabaya is a little higher than back home.

Hi Forthet,

Thanks for the tip.

Yep, imported goods are normally higher priced than in MY. I think Spore may be still cheaper than Malaysia. My dad used to import his fish finder, GPS straight from US. Its 40% cheaper than getting from retailer in Penang.

Btw, what industry are you in?

Yes Beemaro, Carita and Krakatoa is a beautiful places. I think if you like travelling, there many places worth visiting. However, most of the places lack of promotion and facilities.
I like JB as well as Penang. I did fishing in the beach in front of Seagate. What I like the most in Malaysia is the fishing tackles are abundant especially in JB and Singapore.
Have pleasant stay in Indonesia in general and Jakarta in particular.

Regards,

Mrizqi

Thanks

Its a waste Indonesia lack promotion esp as compared to Thailand. It seemed everyone know abt Bali only.

Anyway, new deepsea areas that every angler shud hope to go is Similan Islands (north of phuket) and Mergui Arphilegos (Myanmar - its really wild here)
