Basically, normal hull will cuts the water better resulting in smoother rides.
The more V the hull is (besides other things such as the length and weight of the boat) , the better on rough water condition.
Boston Whaler hull has evolved and now it's more deep vee than what is called
" Tri-hull " of the old model , the old Boston Whaler hull are rough riding in the waves but very stable for stationary casting or trolling .
So which Boston Whaler hull are you talking about , the pre '90 model or the post 2000 model ?

2. I have Boston Whaler hull.
5.5 meter with 40 Hp Yamaha .This boat very Stabil.
My client use it for fishing and diving.
Some time he go very far away with this boat.
This boat also have:
live bait tank,
navigation ligth,
auto matic bilge pump.
live jacket6pcs.
rod holder.canopy.
Anchor and 50meters line.
This boat is ready to go.
Boston Whaler anda sudah di modify bagian depan nya yah ? Menurut saya engine 40 hp agak under powered , Johan punya yang kalau tidak salah BW13/15 pakai Suzuki 4 stroke 60/70 hp , larinya ruaar biasa .
Saya ada hull BW17 Montouk tapi tidak dipakai saat ini , mungkin untuk freshwater fishing kalau sudah ketemu daerah yang bagus didekat Jakarta .

1. I am not so sure kalo sudah dimodify didepan.
2. Seller's engine is 40hp 2 stoke Yamaha. Kata beliau, consumption abt 10litres per hour.
3. Saya lebih suka ke laut, maybe around Pulau Seribu area.
Boston Whaler 17 Montouk is not for offshore works , mine is destined for reef / estuary / river / lake usage . If you want an offshore works I suggest you consider Boston Whaler 22 Outrage + 225 HP outboard with 15 hp " kicker " outboard or 2 x 115 HP outboards .
As for Pulau Seribu , sometimes there are confusions regarding " inner islands " such as P. Bidadari , P. Ayer , etc. and those " outer islands " such as P. Putri , etc. .If you are looking for clear water , those outer islands are still quite good .
Incidentally I know somebody who has a Boston Whaler 22 Outrage for sale , if you are interested , please p.m. me and I will get you to talk to the guy himself , he is a cousin of mine .

In addition, I found out that the seribu outer islands is actually abt 70km off shore ! So, a small boat difficult unless want to play at Ayer etc
